Nothing lasts forever of course, but there are some good things that, when they come to an end, sting more painfully than usual. The original Juans breaking up is one of those painfully sad ends. Although their music lives on, and their lineup has been reformatted, nothing is ever the same as the original.
The Juans are the Filipino pop band behind the streaming smash “Hindi Tayo Pwede.” After losing three founding members in 2018, Carl Guevarra and Japs Mendoza rebuilt the group with musicians from their church community, and today’s four-piece has crossed over to arena stages, two full-length albums, and a first European tour.
Mark Bautista is truly one of those rare gems, a baritone carving a niche in a tenor infused pop scene. He is however, every bit worth paying attention to. When he sings in his true voice, his deep, solid tones feel like taking a deep dive into soothing, cool waters.
